ASIA-PACIFIC CENTURY : INTEGRATING THE DIFFERENCES

1st TU-CAPS, 8-9 December 2016 at Angsana Laguna Phuket, Phuket, Thailand

 

On the 8th of December 2016, TIARA created its new milestone with the launching of inaugural Thammasat Annual Academics and Postgraduate International Conference in Phuket, Thailand. With the theme of ‘Asia-Pacific Century: Integrating the Differences’, the international conference brought together renowned academics and scholars around the world with expertise on Area studies. This international conference was organized in partnership with local agencies and institutes, namely, the Office of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Faculty of Political Science at Thammasat University, College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Thammasat University, and Government Savings Bank together with a strong supports from our esteemed affiliated networks from overseas, namely, Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies (GSAPS) at Waseda University, Meiji University, and Copenhagen Business School.

Our esteem keynote speaker was Prof. Hal Hill, H.W. Arndt Professor Emeritus of Southeast Asian Economies in the Arndt Corden Department of Economics, Crawford School, Australian National University.

There were 60 participants from 12 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. A total of 11 papers were presented as part of the conference on Asia-Pacific Studies and 3 papers as part of Telecommunication and ICT Development Policy for scholarly presentation. For the postgraduate presentation, there were 15 students showed case their thesis in total.
