RUSSIA & CIS STUDIES CENTER

Russia and CIS Studies Center was the idea initiated between State Linguistic University of Nizhny Novgorod and Thammasat University. The two universities signed an agreement to establish Thai Studies in State Linguistic University and Russia and CIS Studies Centre in Thammasat University. The center was recently inaugurated on 10th November 2015 by His Excellency Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Thailand and Dr. Somkid Lertpaithoon, former Rector of Thammasat University.

Its main purpose is to promote the knowledge of Russian & CIS Studies and foster friendly relations and cooperation between Thais and Russians counterpart

OBJECTIVES & MISSIONS
  • To promote research and studies on various respects of Russia and CIS (culture, history, economy, politics, philosophy and literature)
  • To provide forum for scholars of Russia and CIS Studies to exchange their knowledge and research as well as present their works to the public in form of lectures, panel discussions, seminars, symposia and conferences
  • To publish research works, studies and academic papers in the form of books, journals and newsletters to promote the knowledge of Russia and CIS Studies and to create better understanding between India and Thailand
  • To encourage academic and cultural exchange among scholars and students by establishing academic linkages between Thammasat University and Universities in Thailand
  • To cooperate and exchange publications with other centres and institution of similar nature
  • To make the data collection on India related topics
KEY ACTIVITIES & FOCUS
  • Encourage academic and cultural exchange among scholars and students
  • Foster Thai’s understanding of Russia & CIS through organizing public lectures and disseminating research and scholarly works on Russia & CIS
  • Organize events that will help enhancing Thai’s understanding of Russia & CIS and facilitating people – to -people link and institutional linkage through students and academic staff exchange
  • Participating dialogues and forums with Russia & CIS academic institutions and universities
